Club World Cup 2025: Chelsea striker, Jackson banned for two games

Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson has been banned for two matches after receiving a red card during their Club World Cup match against Flamengo.

This is the second time Jackson has been sent off in his last four games for Chelsea. His latest red card came just minutes after he came on as a substitute in the second half of their 3-1 loss to the Brazilian club.

According to FIFA, the red card occurred during the Club World Cup game held on June 20, 2025, at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. They issued an official statement confirming the disciplinary action.

FIFA said Jackson was suspended for two games for breaking Article 14, paragraph 1(e) of their Disciplinary Code. The ruling is final and cannot be appealed.

Following the match, Jackson went on social media to apologise for his behavior and promised to do better.

Despite missing Jackson, Chelsea bounced back strongly in their next game. They defeated Tunisian side Esperance 3-0 in their final group stage match. The win helped them move into the Round of 16, where they are set to face Portuguese club Benfica.
