Two lawmakers who were previously part of opposition parties have joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). This happened during the House of Representatives session on Tuesday, June 24.
One of them is Peter Akpanke from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He represents the Obanliku/Obudu/Bekwarra constituency in Cross River State. The other is Professor Paul Nnamchi from the Labour Party, who represents the Enugu East/Isi Uzo constituency in Enugu State.
Akpanke said he decided to leave the PDP because the party has been facing a long-running crisis that hasn’t been fixed. Nnamchi also mentioned that the leadership problems in the Labour Party led him to quit.
Their letters confirming the move to the APC were read out during the plenary session by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen.
