VDM, schoolchildren protest in front of Wike’s house

Popular Nigerian social media activist, Martins Vincent Otse, known by many as VeryDarkMan (VDM), led a peaceful protest outside the home of Nigeria’s Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in Abuja.

This protest came shortly after Wike announced that he would stop giving area councils 10% of their usual funds. His reason was that they had failed to pay primary school teachers the new minimum wage, which has caused the teachers to go on strike.

On Monday, VDM brought schoolchildren to the protest, dressing them in school uniforms. He then held a mock class outside Wike’s house, where he taught them the alphabet.

During the lesson, VDM used real names in a playful way, saying: “S is for Suegbe, T is for Tinubu, W is for Wike,” and the kids repeated after him.

VDM explained that, since the children couldn’t attend their real schools because of the strike, Wike’s front gate would now be their classroom.
