A new political group called the All Democratic Alliance (ADA) has started a major campaign across Nigeria. Their goal is to prepare for the 2027 general elections and offer a new political option to Nigerians. This movement brings together leaders who are unhappy with how the country is being run.
After applying to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for registration as a new party, ADA leaders are now building support from the grassroots level. They’re working across Nigeria’s six regions to create a strong opposition movement.
Sources say the coalition is confident that INEC will approve their registration soon. Once approved, ADA aims to become a serious contender in Nigeria’s political space.
Big names in politics like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Governor Rotimi Amaechi, and former Governor Nasir El-Rufai are part of the group. They are joined by Dr Umar Ardo and other powerful political figures who want change from President Bola Tinubu’s government.
At first, the group considered joining other parties like the African Democratic Congress (ADC) or Social Democratic Party (SDP). But because of internal issues and legal problems within those parties, they chose to start a fresh movement.
In a formal letter to INEC, Chief Akin A. Rickets, who is leading the group for now, made the request for ADA to be recognised as a political party. He said they want to offer Nigerians a better choice based on unity, better governance, and economic recovery.
Insiders say that ADA leaders are currently meeting with people across all regions of Nigeria. They’re trying to attract new supporters, get political influencers on board, and connect with frustrated members of both APC and PDP.
Even though ADA’s full structure is still developing, the group is already planning how to involve young people, ensure fair regional representation, and create clear policies.
While it’s not yet clear when INEC will approve ADA, the group is moving forward strongly. It’s gaining attention from Nigerians who are tired of the current political parties and want something new.
If registered, the All Democratic Alliance could become a major force in Nigerian politics. It may challenge the long-standing control of APC and PDP and bring a fresh direction to the country’s democracy.
