During a recent church crusade held in Kebbi State, something unexpected happened that caught the attention of many. Dr. Paul Enenche, the senior pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, turned down a generous N30 million cash donation from the state governor.
The large outdoor crusade had gathered a crowd of worshippers when the governor’s representative, Zayyanu Umar Aliero, made an announcement. He told the audience that the donation was from Governor Nasir Idris to show appreciation for Pastor Enenche’s visit and the spiritual impact of the event.
Aliero, who serves as Kebbi State’s Commissioner for Social Duties, made it clear that the money was already available in cash and could be handed over immediately to the church.
To the surprise of many, Pastor Enenche kindly rejected the donation on stage. He thanked the governor for his generous heart but made it clear that the church would not take the money. Instead, he suggested that the funds should be sent to orphanages or other groups that help people in need.
His words were simple and direct: “We sincerely appreciate the gesture and the governor’s generous heart. But we will not take this money. Please channel it instead to orphanages or any other charitable institution of your choice.”
In response, the governor’s representative respected Pastor Enenche’s decision. He praised the pastor for his humility and for putting the focus on helping others rather than taking funds for the church.
Since then, the pastor’s action has gone viral on social media, where many Nigerians have applauded him. People are saying his choice shows strong moral values and a real commitment to his faith.
