BREAKING: Police take over FCT High Court ahead of Natasha’s arraignment on alleged defamation

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja was heavily guarded on the morning of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s arraignment over alleged defamation. Police officers took charge of security around the court, preparing for any unrest linked to the case.

More than 200 officers were deployed to key spots inside and outside the court. Many of them were heavily armed, ensuring that peace was maintained throughout the proceedings.

The massive police presence was part of efforts to avoid any form of chaos before, during, or after the court session. Their goal was to keep everyone in check and protect the court environment.

At the time this report was filed, supporters of former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello had already filled the courtroom. They were waiting for the hearing, which was scheduled for 11 a.m.

Though Senator Natasha had not arrived, her supporters were present. Among them were human rights activists and the former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili. Their presence showed strong backing for the senator.

Senator Natasha is facing a 3-count charge of defamation. These charges were filed by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.

She is accused of defaming both Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello in public statements.

Top legal experts, including Senior Advocate of Nigeria Roland Otaru, were also in court to take part in the proceedings.

This high-profile case continues to draw public attention due to the personalities involved and the heavy security around it. Updates are expected as the court proceedings unfold.
