President Bola Tinubu has appealed to the people of Benue State and Nigerians across the country to join hands in confronting those causing violence and division.
While speaking in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State, Tinubu asked Governor Hyacinth Alia to provide land that the Federal Government could use to set up ranches.
During his meeting with community leaders and other stakeholders, the President said, “If we can get land for ranching, we can move forward as a country. Our national anthem says we should leave behind a clean legacy for the next generation.”
He also reminded everyone that Nigerians are like a big family living under the same roof, though in different rooms. He urged citizens to stop fighting among themselves and instead unite to face those harming the country. “A human life is more valuable than a cow,” he said.
Recently, over 200 people were reported killed in Yelewata, a community in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State. The attacks were carried out by suspected herders.
Governor Alia has blamed these violent attacks on herders who are targeting lands in the state.
