West Ham forward, Michaël Antonio returns to football just 6-months after near-fatal Ferrari crash ‘completely shattered’ his leg

West Ham striker Michail Antonio is back on the football pitch just six months after a terrible car crash nearly ended his career.

The 35-year-old made his return during Jamaica’s Gold Cup match against Guatemala in California. He came on as a substitute in the 85th minute, even though his team lost 1-0.

Even though Jamaica didn’t win, Antonio’s short time on the field was a big achievement in his long journey to recover.

This was his first match since he crashed his Ferrari into a tree back in December last year.

Antonio broke a bone in his leg during the accident and needed surgery to fix it.

He was discharged from the hospital before the end of December and began working on getting back to full fitness.

By February, Antonio was already training in Dubai, hoping to speed up his recovery with warm-weather workouts.

West Ham manager Graham Potter said that towards the end of last season, Antonio had started training again and even joined the first team in practice sessions.
