Club World Cup: Maresca reacts as Chelsea beat Los Angeles FC in first game

Chelsea kicked off their Club World Cup journey with a solid 2-0 win against Los Angeles FC. Manager Enzo Maresca was pleased with how his team performed in their opening match.

The goals came from Pedro Neto, who scored in the first half, and Enzo Fernandez, who found the net in the second half. The game was mostly controlled by Chelsea, making it a comfortable win for the English side.

After the match, Maresca spoke to Channel 5, calling the victory a “very good result.” He explained that it’s normal for teams to deal with different challenges during this time of the season, but overall, he was happy with how the team played.

One of the big moments of the match was the debut of Liam Delap, a young forward who recently joined the team. Delap made an instant impact by assisting Fernandez’s goal.

Maresca praised Delap for quickly fitting into the team’s system, saying the young striker already understands how Chelsea wants to play, which made the transition smooth.

The Chelsea manager also gave minutes to another young player, Dario Essugo. He said it was good to give both Delap and Essugo a chance to play and grow with the team.

Chelsea will now prepare for their next game in the tournament, hoping to keep up their strong start.
