Athletic Bilbao winger, Nico Williams, is reportedly willing to take a pay cut so he can join Barcelona in this summer’s transfer window.
Football journalist Ben Jacobs revealed that Deco, Barcelona’s sporting director, has already met with Williams’ agent to move the deal forward.
During the meeting, Deco mentioned that Barcelona is ready to offer the same €12 million gross salary that was discussed with Williams a year ago.
However, Barcelona is not the only club interested in him. Bayern Munich and Arsenal are also keeping an eye on the 22-year-old, which means Barca will face strong competition.
Athletic Bilbao is not staying quiet either. They have opened new talks with Williams to convince him to extend his stay at the club.
The winger has been at Athletic Bilbao for five years since moving from Basconia, the club’s reserve team.
So far, he has made a strong impact at the La Liga side and has become one of their key players.
