I was forced to work at young age – Jarvis opens up

Nigerian TikTok star Amadou Elizabeth Aminata, better known as Jarvis, talked about her tough childhood. She shared how she had to start working very young.

Jarvis, who comes from Edo State, said she did small jobs just to survive. She also told a story about being robbed while working at one of her jobs.

She thinks that having to work hard so early in life might be why she finds it hard to act like a typical girl.

During a TikTok live video, Jarvis explained, “When I was young, I had to act like a man. Maybe that is why I don’t behave like a lady. I was made to work hard and follow orders from early on. It was not easy for me.

“I worked as a salesgirl for many people. I believe my old bosses would be proud of who I am now. Once, when my boss left town, she asked me to take care of the store. I wanted to make good sales to impress her. But sadly, someone stole from the store that day. When she came back, the neighbors helped fix the problem, and she forgave me. She said she might take the cost of the stolen goods from my pay, but I don’t remember if she did.

“I really liked her. She even told me not to cry too much. I was surprised she wasn’t mad, just told me to be more careful next time. She said people would feel sorry for me and like me more if I handled things smartly.”
