“0ral sex doesn’t make you less of a man” – BBNaija star Elozonam slams toxic masculinity in Nigeria

Former Big Brother Naija housemate and actor, Elozonam Ogbolu, is challenging old-fashioned ideas about what it means to be a man.

During a recent episode of the In The Company Of Men podcast, Elozonam shared that many men in Nigeria still think that doing certain things — like cooking, buying sanitary pads, or satisfying their partner in bed — makes them seem weak or less manly.

He didn’t hold back in calling this out as toxic masculinity.

Elozonam explained that some men feel awkward or even ashamed about giving their partner oral sex, going grocery shopping, or helping out at home. They think these tasks are not for “real men.”

But he believes these ideas don’t make sense. According to him, true masculinity isn’t about sticking to outdated gender roles — it’s about being responsible and emotionally aware, not about avoiding certain behaviors just because they seem “feminine.”

Interestingly, he also pointed out that some women are part of the problem too. He said some women admire men who are controlling or even abusive, thinking it means love. In fact, some go as far as saying a man doesn’t truly love you unless he hits you — something Elozonam strongly disagrees with.

His bold take has sparked serious conversations online. People are now talking more about how men and women both play a role in promoting or challenging harmful beliefs in relationships.
