A man has been arrested for stealing iron rods from a newly built pedestrian walkway near the Ebu Bridge along the Ughelli–Asaba Road in Delta State.

The Delta State Commissioner for Environment, Jamani Ejiro, caught the man while he was removing the rods from the footpath.

After a quick investigation, the man was identified as Emmanuel Sunday. He is from Ikot-Okpene Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State.

Emmanuel works as a carpenter and was hired on contract by the company building the walkway. When he was questioned, he admitted to taking the iron rods.

The commissioner has now handed him over to the police. They will continue the investigation and take legal action against him.
