Chelsea’s manager, Enzo Maresca, has decided not to include four players in his team for the Club World Cup starting this weekend.
Among those left out are players worth at least £150 million, including Raheem Sterling and Joao Felix.
The team is getting ready to travel to the United States in the next few days.
Chelsea will face the MLS team LAFC in the group stage, before playing against Flamengo from Brazil and Esperance from Tunisia.
Raheem Sterling will stay at home after a bad loan period with Arsenal last season. Joao Felix, who joined Chelsea for £45 million and was on loan at AC Milan, has also been left out.
Defender Axel Disasi, who spent the second half of last season with Aston Villa, is another player not selected for the tournament.
The biggest surprise might be that goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic has also been dropped. Many expected him to play a bigger role after Chelsea could not sign Mike Maignan from AC Milan.
