Chelsea have finished the deal to sign young defender Mamadou Sarr from the French team RC Strasbourg.
The 19-year-old French player has agreed to stay at Chelsea until 2033.
Sarr, who plays for France’s under-20 team, helped Strasbourg qualify for European competitions next season by playing 28 games in all tournaments.
Chelsea said, “His skills have been noticed by France, and he has played for different youth national teams, including the under-20 side.”
Chelsea welcomed him warmly, saying, “Welcome to Chelsea, Mamadou!”
This season, Sarr appeared 29 times in all competitions as Strasbourg earned a place in the UEFA Conference League next year.
He has also represented France in the under-17, under-18, and under-19 teams.
This signing follows striker Liam Delap joining Chelsea this summer, while winger Jadon Sancho confirmed he will return to Manchester United after his loan ended.
With this move, Sarr can play in Chelsea’s upcoming Club World Cup matches in the USA, starting against LAFC on June 16.
