Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who represents Abia North, has shared his thoughts on the new political movement being formed by top Nigerian politicians like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, and Nasir El-Rufai. According to Kalu, he doesn’t understand the purpose of their coalition.
Kalu said that all four of them—Atiku, Obi, Amaechi, and El-Rufai—are not just fellow politicians but also his friends and brothers. Despite this close relationship, he made it clear that he is not part of their alliance.
The opposition group is working together with the goal of removing President Bola Tinubu from office in the upcoming 2027 presidential election. However, Kalu says he has no interest in joining that mission.
Instead, the senator declared that he is standing firmly with President Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC). He promised to give his full support to help APC stay in power when Nigerians head to the polls in 2027.
Kalu made these comments shortly after visiting the Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, in Umuahia. During the visit, he spoke highly of the governor, calling him his brother and praising his efforts in leading the state.
He also explained that he has strong personal ties with all the opposition leaders. “Atiku is my personal friend. Amaechi is also my friend. Peter Obi is not just my friend, but like a brother and in-law. El-Rufai is my brother and friend as well,” he said.
Still, Kalu repeated that he doesn’t understand their new coalition. What he does understand, he said, is the strength and direction of the APC. He said he has several strategies ready to help the party succeed.
Kalu concluded by saying he is not part of any coalition and believes the APC remains the largest and most powerful political party in Africa.
