Actor Gideon Okeke has raised an important question about why cattle herders are allowed to carry weapons like machetes and cutlasses without much problem, but pastors are criticized when they appear with something that looks like a gun.
On his Instagram page, Gideon asked if pastors and cattle herders are not both citizens with the same rights. He wondered why one group seems to have more freedom than the other when it comes to carrying weapons.
This question came after a video of Lagos pastor Paul Adefarasin went viral. In the video, the pastor was seen holding what looked like a weapon while a content creator was filming his car on the streets of Lagos. Many people talked about the video and questioned the pastor’s actions.
Gideon Okeke’s question invites everyone to think about fairness and equal treatment under the law. If both pastors and cattle herders are citizens, why should one group be allowed to carry arms while the other is not?
