Nigerian content creator and businessman, Oyemykke, has responded to Nigerians who criticized him online. This happened after he admitted that he doesn’t wear a clean pair of boxers every single day.
In a video he posted earlier, Oyemykke encouraged men to take their personal hygiene seriously. After this, some women reached out to him, saying that some men wear the same underwear for up to three days—even when it smells. They asked him to use his platform to tell men to always change their boxers.
But Oyemykke replied honestly, saying he couldn’t share that advice because he doesn’t follow it himself. According to him, expecting all men to change their boxers daily is not realistic.
Some men disagreed with him in the comment section. They said they manage to change their underwear every day and don’t see it as a big deal.
As the topic trended online, many Nigerians reacted strongly. Some even mocked Oyemykke, calling him names. Photojournalist Pooja was among those who joined the conversation, calling him out for what he said
Responding to the criticisms, Oyemykke shared a video and wrote;
‘I was at my guys Eid event yesterday and we brought up the boxers thing up because I need to start asking . Strangely, everybody changes their boxers everyday. Nobody claimed they repeat their boxers. Nobody claimed they stay in their houses for days and wear the same boxers. They claim they change their boxers everyday, that I am the one that smells.
That one did not pain me sef. One photography, you!!!! are you as neat as myself? asking ‘what kind of man doesn’t change his boxers everyday?
It’s like you are mad! Are you mad? Ar eyou on my level when it comes to neatness? All of a sudden, every single man in the world, you change your boxers everyday.
First of all, do you go out everyday? because we have to get to this level? Do you people take your bath everyday because I don’t bath everyday. First of all I don’t leave my house everyday. If I don’t leave my house everyday, that means I don’t necessarily bath everyday.
Why will I then be changing my boxers everyday? Sometimes I am on this chair playing video game the whole day and forget I have not had my bath all day. I will take my bath the next day and of course I will change my boxers but making it look like daily I must change my boxers, its a lie!”
