Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong, has explained how Nigeria plans to play in their friendly match against Russia this Friday evening in Moscow.
Speaking during a press event hosted by the Russian Football Union on Thursday, Troost-Ekong said the Super Eagles will mix different playing styles when they face the Russian team.
The former Watford defender jokingly said he couldn’t give away too much information because the coach was present at the event.
However, he did say that the team will try out a few different styles during the match and that they already have a good understanding of what they need to do on the pitch.
Troost-Ekong also mentioned that since the team only started working with the new coach earlier this year, this friendly game is a great chance to get better and build stronger teamwork.
He added that some new players have joined the squad, and this match gives them a perfect chance to show the coaches what they can do.
The Super Eagles last played on Sunday against Jamaica in the 2025 Unity Cup.
That game ended 2-2 in regular time, and Nigeria won 5-4 in a penalty shootout, with Eric Chelle’s team coming out on top.
