Saudi Arabian football team Al Hilal has reportedly made an official contract offer to Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen as they look to bring him to the Saudi Pro League this summer.
Osimhen, a star for Nigeria’s national team (the Super Eagles), had a brilliant season while on loan at Turkish club Galatasaray from Napoli.
During his time in Turkey, Osimhen scored 25 goals and provided 5 assists in just 29 matches, making him one of the top performers in the league.
Now that the season is over, Osimhen is expected to return to his parent club, Napoli, where his current contract will run until 2026.
According to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Al Hilal has made Osimhen one of their top targets for the summer transfer window and have already sent him a proposal.
Reports also say that Al Hilal is ready to activate Osimhen’s €75 million release clause, showing just how serious they are about signing him. They want him to be part of their squad under new head coach Simone Inzaghi.
Despite previous rumors about possible moves to top Premier League sides like Chelsea and Manchester United, no deal was completed.
In fact, last summer, Chelsea legends John Obi Mikel and Didier Drogba personally tried to convince Osimhen to move to Stamford Bridge.
Mikel said he hopes Osimhen will play for Chelsea soon and mentioned that he would keep in touch with him through calls and messages, encouraging him to join the club.
He added that Osimhen seems to admire Chelsea and is open to the idea of joining them. Mikel believes many big teams are chasing him, but Chelsea would benefit greatly if they can sign him.
Drogba has also been in contact with Osimhen, sharing his own experiences and explaining what Chelsea means to former players like him. Both former players are hopeful that a move to Chelsea could still happen—if the club can afford the transfer fee.
