On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, decided to delay the fraud case involving Jude Chigozie Okoye. He is accused of being part of a money laundering case worth ₦1.38 billion. The next hearing has been scheduled for October 23.
One of the counts reads
“That you, Jude Okoye Chigozie and Northside Music Limited, sometime in 2022, in Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, did directly acquire a landed property known as No 5, Tony Eromosele Street, Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos worth N850,000,000.00 (Eight Hundred and Fifty Million Naira only), which money you knew or reasonably ought to have known form part of proceeds of unlawful act and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 18 (2) (d) and punishable under Section 18 (3) of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.”
Jude Okoye, known for being the former manager of the popular music duo PSquare and their older brother, is facing charges alongside his company, Northside Music Limited. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is accusing them of being involved in a money laundering scheme. There are seven different charges linked to this case.
Jude was officially brought to court on February 26, 2025. During that session, he denied all the charges and pleaded not guilty.
At the latest hearing, the EFCC’s first witness, Peter Okoye—one of the PSquare brothers—gave his testimony. While answering questions from the defense lawyer, Clement Onwuewunor (SAN), Peter said he didn’t sign any cheques or handle any company account while he was with Northside Entertainment.
Peter also explained that even though he got some money from the company’s Ecobank account, it wasn’t payment for royalties. He said the same account received millions from concerts and brand deals, which made it hard to say what the payments were for.
He added that he didn’t even know about the existence of Northside Music Limited until late 2022. He also claimed that he never got any money from Lex Records while working under the company.
After all the testimonies were heard for the day, Justice A. Owoeye decided to postpone the case. The next court dates are now set for October 23 and November 10, 2025.
