“Am I a children’s TV show presenter?” — Skepta fires back at fan who told him to smile in photos
British-Nigerian rapper Skepta recently had something to say after a fan gave him advice on how to pose in photos. The rapper is known for keeping a serious face in his pictures—and he doesn’t see any need to change that.
The comment came from a fan on X (the platform that used to be called Twitter). The fan replied under one of Skepta’s photos, suggesting that he should “try smiling a bit.”
A fan on X (formerly Twitter) told him, “Sha dey try smile small,” under one of his photos.
Skepta replied:
“Am I a children’s TV show presenter? What’s with you men keep telling me to smile in my pics? Blocked kmt.”
Another user, tried to soften the moment, writing:
“Don’t mind them. We love the mystery behind it ✨”
Skepta didn’t let the comment slide. He fired back, saying he doesn’t need to smile in photos and that there’s no hidden reason behind his serious look. It’s just how he chooses to present himself.
Meaning:
“Ain’t no mystery, I’m just looking at the camera so the photographer can take his picture. Unless somebody made a joke on set… what am I smiling for?”
After his response, the conversation quickly picked up online. Many people jumped in to support Skepta, saying he should be free to look however he wants in his pictures—smiling or not.
