Barcelona’s young star, Lamine Yamal, has shared that he is not thinking about winning the Ballon d’Or this year. Even though he had a great season, the award still feels far from his reach.
Yamal was an important player for Barcelona during the 2024/25 season. He helped the team win three major trophies in Spain: La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Supercopa de España. These wins made the season very successful for both him and the club.
In a recent interview with El Partidazo de COPE, Yamal said that winning the Ballon d’Or seems like a big dream right now. He believes that to get the award, he needs to win even bigger titles, like the UEFA Champions League and the FIFA World Cup.
“I don’t think about it. You get into trouble when you start thinking about winning the Ballon d’Or,” Yamal said.
“The focus should be on playing well and winning. If I win the Champions League and the World Cup next year, maybe then it will come. It’s all about enjoying the journey and letting things happen naturally.”
