A woman named Mrs. Chioma Chikadibia recently raised an alarm online, saying that the police in Abia State had wrongly detained her husband, Mr. Sunday Chikadibia, and their three daughters. She claimed they were being held without a valid reason.
However, the Abia State Police Command responded quickly to this concern. Through their spokesperson, DSP Maureen Chinaka, the police explained that the family members were arrested because they are connected to a serious case involving kidnapping and murder.
The police further said that after completing their investigation, the suspects were officially charged in court. A judge then ordered that they be kept at the Correctional Centre until the case moves forward.
The police also called the woman’s claims about illegal detention untrue and misleading. They stressed that the family is currently under lawful custody following due legal process.
Additionally, the Commissioner of Police in Abia State, CP Danladi Isa, reminded the public not to protect or hide people who are suspected of crimes. He warned that helping such suspects is a crime itself and can bring legal consequences.
This response from the police clarifies the situation and highlights the ongoing legal process involving the family. It also serves as a reminder about the importance of cooperating with law enforcement and allowing the justice system to work.
