Odion Ighalo and his club, Al Wehda, have been relegated from the Saudi Pro League.
The team’s fate was sealed after a 2-1 loss to Al Ettifaq in their final game of the season.
Al Wehda had been struggling all season and needed to win their last match to stay in the top league.
Ighalo had scored six goals and provided two assists earlier in the season, but he couldn’t help the team score in this important match.
Al Ettifaq took the lead just before halftime with a goal from Abdullah Radif. Al Wehda fought back and equalized in the 70th minute with a goal by Jawad El Yamiq.
However, they couldn’t hold on to the draw. They conceded another goal during stoppage time and lost the game.
This defeat left Al Wehda in 16th place with 33 points at the end of the season.
If they had won, they would have passed Al Okhdood, who finished 15th, and avoided relegation.
Now, Ighalo and the team will be playing in the Saudi Arabian Division 1 next season.
