Cristiano Ronaldo may be preparing to leave Al-Nassr, based on a mysterious message he shared online.
The football legend posted a short but emotional message on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all.” Fans believe this could mean he is ready to move on.
The message came shortly after Al-Nassr lost 3-2 to Al-Fateh. Despite leading 2-1 with just ten minutes left, Ronaldo’s team couldn’t hold on to win.
Al-Nassr ended the Saudi Pro League season in third place, behind Al-Ittihad and Al-Hilal. At 40 years old, Ronaldo might be thinking about starting a new chapter in his career elsewhere.
Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr in 2023, after ending his second run with Manchester United during the 2021-22 season.
Even though he scored 24 goals and was the league’s top scorer, Al-Nassr didn’t win any trophies this year.
Just two days before Ronaldo’s post, FIFA president Gianni Infantino mentioned that Ronaldo might still play in the upcoming Club World Cup — even though his team didn’t qualify.
The expanded Club World Cup will feature 32 teams and take place in the United States. Al-Hilal is the only Saudi team invited.
During a live chat with internet personality IShowSpeed, Infantino said there were talks about Ronaldo joining another team just for the tournament.
When asked again, Infantino confirmed the talks, adding that any interested team could still try to sign Ronaldo for the event. He ended by saying, “Who knows?”
