Reality TV star Kody Brown opened up about his feelings for his ex-wives in the newest episode of the TLC show Sister Wives.
On the May 25 episode, the 56-year-old shared that he didn’t have deep emotional feelings for all of his former wives—Meri, Christine, and Janelle. Right now, Robyn is his only wife.
Talking about the end of his marriages, Kody said, “It’s not about changing the past. It’s about how I felt during the breakup. I admit I was in a place where I told myself, ‘I never loved them.’ That was my mind trying to handle the pain.”
Meri responded to Kody’s words by saying, “He doesn’t want to say he really loved me, and that’s okay. But I wish he would just admit he did love me and then changed his mind. That happens sometimes.”
Robyn also shared her thoughts during her interview. She said, “When he said he never loved his wives, I think he was just hurting. It was anger and bitterness. He told me many times that he did love them.”
“It’s not a matter of rewriting the past,” Kody explained to Sukanya. “It’s a matter of where I was in the breakup. I am definitely guilty of going through a breakup scenario where I was like, ‘I never loved them.’ My state of mind there, it’s like just the heart felt, like I’m digging in my feelings and going, I never loved them. And that’s because of the space that we were in.”
Christine ended her marriage with Kody in November 2021. Then, Janelle and Meri shared that their marriages were over the next year. After that, Kody fell more deeply in love with Robyn, whom he married in 2010.
“Your relationship with all your children is different,” insisted the father of 18. “Your relationship with all your friends is different. There are ones that do different things that have different fulfillments and stuff like that.”
Kody said about Robyn, “With her, it feels like a higher kind of love, but people judge us for it. I believe there’s something special about our relationship, even if people criticize us.”
Now, Kody feels ready to stand up for their love.
“I love this woman and I want peace in this relationship,” he explained. “But I’m to the point where I’m walking around flipping two birds because I am so sick and tired of being guilted for loving Robyn.”
