Fresh Crisis Hits PDP As Wike ‘Pulls Out Of All Agreements’

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, says he’s stepping away from all previous agreements made within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He blames Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for causing the party’s ongoing crisis.

Wike revealed that he directly told Governor Makinde that ignoring their agreements is what’s damaging the party. He said Makinde is the main person responsible for breaking those promises.

He shared his thoughts in a statement titled “PDP Crisis: My Position”, which he personally signed and made public on Sunday.

Wike stressed that all sides must stick to past decisions. These include allowing Senator Samuel Anyanwu to continue as the PDP’s National Secretary, dropping all legal cases related to Rivers State, and canceling any lawsuit about a state of emergency.

According to him, since the 2023 general elections, the PDP has faced constant instability. He blames this on dishonesty and lack of trust between party leaders.

To solve this, Wike said several steps were taken, including meetings to rebuild trust. One of these was a G5 meeting in Lagos where he again told Makinde he was the root of the problem. They all agreed to put their differences aside and move forward.

Later, a bigger meeting took place in Abuja with leaders like Seyi Makinde, Umaru Fintri, Bala Mohammed, and Bukola Saraki. Wike stated that while he had no personal issue with Bala Mohammed, he accused him of hiding behind his role to avoid keeping agreements.

The group came to several resolutions. These included confirming Senator Anyanwu as National Secretary and pulling out all legal cases involving Rivers State.

Although Wike was busy, he was asked to attend a stakeholders’ meeting at the Bauchi Government Lodge. He went and repeated his concerns. A new committee led by Bukola Saraki was formed to resolve other problems.

Unfortunately, Wike said that even before the committee began its work, their earlier agreements were already being ignored.

He accused Makinde and Enugu State Governor Peter Mba of trying to push a new agenda. They reportedly supported a meeting of South-East leaders who said they would leave the PDP unless Ude Okoye became National Secretary. Wike rejected that demand.

He also accused Makinde of organizing people within the PDP to push the Deputy National Secretary to act as the National Secretary, which went against earlier agreements.

Wike said a letter calling for a major party meeting was signed by the Deputy Secretary instead of Anyanwu, just to make the move look valid.

He also pointed out that a letter confirming PDP’s governorship candidate in Anambra was signed by Anyanwu and the acting National Chairman—but the party later denied it under pressure from Makinde and Mba.

Wike shared that on May 24, 2025, a zonal congress in Jos couldn’t happen because INEC refused to attend. The invitation letter wasn’t signed by the recognized National Secretary, Senator Anyanwu.

He described all these actions as frustrating, disrespectful, and a big disappointment. He said he’s revealing all these facts so that PDP members and the public know the truth.

Wike reminded everyone that he has been with PDP since 1998 and has done more for the party than many of the people involved in the current crisis.

He said he has never asked for anything in return from the governors he helped win elections, and he only hoped for mutual trust.

Now, with all the broken promises and ongoing issues, Wike says he is officially pulling out of all past agreements and will keep fighting until fairness is restored in the PDP.
