“Stick to the script!” – Actor Godwin Nnadiekwe hospitalized after ‘unscripted kick’ by Zubby Michael on set

Nollywood actor Godwin Nnadiekwe has sparked new talks about safety in the Nigerian film industry after suffering an injury during filming. The incident left him with internal bleeding and landed him in the hospital.

In a post that quickly went viral, Godwin said he was kicked in the chest by fellow actor Zubby Michael while they were filming a scene. According to Godwin, the kick wasn’t part of the script and wasn’t something the director had instructed. He added that the kick caused him serious pain, and he had to find medical help on his own, without any support or first aid on set.

“During a scene, I received a kick to the chest from my colleague that wasn’t part of the script or directed by the director. It’s caused me serious pains. Had to get medication for my chest to feel better today. I did all these by myself. No assistance!”

Later, his management released a statement saying that his condition had gotten worse. They confirmed that he was rushed to the hospital and is now receiving treatment for internal bleeding.

“We regret to inform you that Actor 1/3 Godwin Nnadiekwe was rushed to the hospital this evening. He is undergoing treatment for internal bleeding following an incident involving a kick on the chest during filming with his colleague Zubby Michael.”

Although Godwin didn’t mention any names directly, the video he posted shows the exact moment he was kicked. Viewers quickly pointed out that the other actor in the clip is Zubby Michael.

“When we’re working without insurance policies or readily available first aid, unexpected physical actions like this, even if accidental, can have real consequences… What if something more serious had happened?”

In his message, Godwin made a heartfelt appeal to the film industry. He asked actors, directors, and producers to make safety a top priority. He also pointed out that many movie sets in Nigeria do not have insurance, medical teams, or proper safety rules.

So far, Zubby Michael has not made any public comment about the incident.
