Many Nigerians dream of moving to other countries in search of a better life. But popular Nollywood actor, Ugezu J. Ugezu, has shared a strong message: “Before you leave, think.”
Ugezu warned those who are planning to “japa” (a slang word for relocating abroad) to take time and consider their decisions carefully. He believes not all that glitters is gold.
He shared a real-life story about a Nigerian medical doctor who was successful in his home country. The doctor owned a clinic and had a good life. But he sold everything and moved overseas, hoping for something better. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned. He ended up working as a butcher in a meat shop abroad.
Ugezu used this story to show that life outside Nigeria may not always be better. He reminded people that social media and stories from others can sometimes give the wrong picture.
He ended his message with a strong piece of advice: “Before you leave… think.” His words encourage people to plan well, think deeply, and understand the reality of life in other countries before making the big move.
