Army, NAF troops eliminate 16 ISWAP terrorists in failed attack on Damboa

Nigerian soldiers and Air Force officers stopped a deadly attack by ISWAP terrorists in Damboa, Borno State. The soldiers fought hard and killed 16 of the attackers during the overnight battle.

Security expert Zagazola Makama shared the news on X (formerly Twitter). He said the attack happened around 1:00 a.m. on Thursday. The terrorists attacked two places at the same time—one near the Azir Bridge and the other at the 25 Task Force Brigade base in Damboa.

Damboa is in southern Borno and has often been attacked by terrorists because of its important location. That’s why the military keeps a strong presence there.

Makama said his sources in the military confirmed that the army received help from the Air Force and used heavy weapons to fight back. The battle lasted for more than two hours.

One source said the terrorists tried to overrun the brigade base in large numbers, but the soldiers responded quickly and used strong firepower to push them back. This led to many of the attackers being killed.

The bodies of 16 terrorists were found after the fighting, and more might have escaped with injuries. Sadly, two brave soldiers lost their lives while defending the town.

Makama also said that one of the terrorists’ weapons exploded and caused a fire in a military ammunition store. Two buildings were damaged, but the fire was brought under control quickly.

Right now, the military is searching for the terrorists who escaped and is carrying out cleanup operations in the area to ensure safety.
