John Terry mocks Maddison after Tottenham Europa League triumph

Chelsea legend John Terry had some fun teasing James Maddison after Tottenham Hotspur beat Manchester United in the Europa League final.

Tottenham finally ended their long wait for a trophy. They won their first major title in 17 years by beating Manchester United 1-0 in Bilbao.

Brennan Johnson scored the only goal of the match in the first half at San Mames Stadium in Bilbao.

James Maddison wasn’t able to play in the final because he was injured. Still, he joined his teammates for the celebrations after the match.

During an interview with TNT Sports, Maddison said he had to put on the Tottenham shirt to get his medal. He added that he didn’t want to copy John Terry, who wore his full Chelsea kit—including shin pads—in 2012, even though he didn’t play in their Champions League final due to injury.

Terry noticed Maddison’s comment and decided to joke back on Instagram.

He wrote, “I remember my first trophy. Ah bless them,” followed by laughing emojis. Then he added, “After that performance I think you have a chance. You just have to live for 900 years.”

Terry enjoyed a hugely successful career at Chelsea, where he won 17 trophies.
