Europa League final: Embarrassing – Shearer blasts Amorim over decisions that cost Man Utd

Alan Shearer, a former football star and Newcastle United legend, has strongly criticized Manchester United’s manager, Ruben Amorim, for the poor tactics he used in the Europa League final.

Shearer called Amorim’s decisions “embarrassing” after Man United lost 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur in the final match, which was played in Bilbao.

The only goal in the game came from Brennan Johnson, who scored in the first half. Even though the goal wasn’t clean, it was enough to win the match and end Tottenham’s long wait of 17 years for a trophy.

This victory was also big for Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou, as it helped his team qualify for the Champions League next season.

Manchester United played poorly throughout the game. They didn’t create many chances and seemed to run out of ideas. In the final minutes, they started sending long balls into the box and pushed Harry Maguire, a defender, to play as a striker.

Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, Shearer said the game was of low quality, but Tottenham wouldn’t care since they got the win.

He added that Manchester United were not just bad in the final but also in the semi-final. He found it embarrassing that the team had to rely on a 6ft 5in centre-back to try and score, and kept launching long balls in desperation.
