A group of twelve highly skilled Nigerian doctors living and working abroad have joined forces to build a large hospital in Anambra State. These doctors are experts in their fields and want to bring top-quality health care back home to Nigeria.

The new hospital, called Pinnacle Consultant Hospital and Clinics, will offer all kinds of medical services. It is being built by GUMEC Nigeria Limited in Ojoto, a town in the Idemili South local government area.

The ground-breaking event to start building the hospital was attended by important guests, including Governor Charles Soludo’s representative, the state’s Health Commissioner Dr. Afam Obidike, local traditional rulers, business leaders, and medical professionals.

At the event, Prof. Ndubueze Fidelis Okonkwo, president of the United Doctors group, said that good and affordable health care should be available to everyone—not just the rich. He explained that they want to work with partners worldwide to bring modern, affordable health care to Africa.

Prof. Okonkwo also spoke about how many wealthy Nigerians travel abroad for medical treatment but hopes this hospital will change that by providing world-class care in Nigeria. He pointed out that many Nigerian doctors abroad hold top positions in hospitals worldwide.

The hospital plans to offer advanced treatments like kidney and pancreas transplants, and a cancer treatment center will open soon. They want to care for patients with respect, honesty, and excellence.

Chief Louis Onwugbenu, a business leader supporting the project, said he has invested about two billion naira because he believes in the doctors’ vision. He shared that after recovering from COVID-19 abroad, he promised to help improve health care for people who cannot afford it.

The hospital’s contractor, Engr. Ifeanyichukwu Godson Ume, said the hospital will include all medical departments and should be finished by the end of 2026.

Igwe Gerald Mbamalu, the traditional ruler of Ojoto, praised the doctors for their efforts and said the hospital will reduce the need for Nigerians to travel abroad for medical care.
