EPL: How Man City’s 3-1 win over Bournemouth affects race for Champions League places

Manchester City played their last home game of the Premier League season on Tuesday night and secured a 3-1 win against Bournemouth.

This victory gives City a great chance to finish third in the league and book their place in next season’s Champions League.

At the moment, five teams — Manchester City, Chelsea, Newcastle, Aston Villa, and Nottingham Forest — are all trying to grab one of the three remaining Champions League spots. Everything will be decided on Sunday, the final day of the season.

City’s win puts them on 68 points, which is two points more than Newcastle, Chelsea, and Villa. Nottingham Forest are just one point behind that group.

If Manchester City beat Fulham this weekend, they will definitely finish third. Their strong goal difference means even a draw might be enough. Even with a loss, they could still qualify, but that would give their rivals a chance to move ahead.

Newcastle are currently in fourth place and will face Everton at home. A win would keep them in the Champions League zone. A draw might work too, but it depends on how the teams below them perform.

Chelsea are in fifth place and will travel to play Nottingham Forest. Forest have only lost four times at home this season. They must win this match to go above Chelsea, but even then, they’ll need Aston Villa to lose if they want to move from seventh to fifth.

The race for Champions League football is heating up, and fans can expect an exciting final day.
