Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda paving way for Nigeria’s economic renaissance – Idris

President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is building a strong path for Nigeria’s economic growth, according to the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris. He shared this during the 2025 Nigeria Public Relations Week in Uyo, Akwa Ibom.

The Minister explained that the Tinubu government’s direction has started a major economic change that is already making a difference in key sectors across the country.

He strongly believes that this agenda is reviving Nigeria’s economy and urged public relations experts to help spread this message to both Nigerians at home and abroad.

Idris said the reforms started right from the first day of the Tinubu administration, with important steps like removing the fuel subsidy and creating a single exchange rate. He called these moves the foundation of the country’s economic turnaround.

While these reforms brought some hardship in the beginning, they are now producing results. The exchange rate has become more stable, government earnings have gone up, local oil refineries are coming back, and the country’s financial position is getting stronger.

As the administration nears two years, Nigeria is seeing more money being spent on roads, agriculture, security, and building people’s skills.

For example, the government is investing N2.5 trillion in road projects this year—the biggest in Nigeria’s history. It also created new ministries to boost regional growth and agriculture and launched NELFUND, which has already helped over 300,000 students with school expenses.

More progress includes $450 million put into CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) projects, the creation of CreditCorp to help people get loans for housing and healthcare, and N200 billion set aside to support small and large businesses.

Idris said Nigeria is now like a construction site. Major road projects like the Lagos-Calabar and Badagry-Sokoto highways are connecting different parts of the country.

He also mentioned the revival of the Port Harcourt and Warri refineries, the approval of N80 billion to rebuild the Alau Dam in Borno, and ongoing work on the Kano-Kaduna railway. He said that all parts of Nigeria are benefiting from these developments and praised President Tinubu as “The Road Master.”

The Minister shared some positive economic news, saying that inflation went down slightly in April 2025. It dropped to 23.71%, compared to 24.23% in March. He said this is proof that the government’s plans are beginning to work.

He called on PR professionals to take a leading role in telling Nigeria’s success story to the world and helping build a positive image for the country.

Idris added that Nigeria has attracted over $50 billion in new investments. Nigerians abroad sent home $21.9 billion, and the film industry, Nollywood, added ₦730 billion to the economy. He said these numbers show real progress that should be communicated proudly and professionally.

He also mentioned that his ministry will keep working on organized messaging through the National Strategic Communication Framework (NSCF).

Finally, Idris congratulated Dr. Ike Neliaku, the President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, for being recognized internationally. He said Nigerian PR is now respected both at home and globally.
