The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has called on former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, to join other Southeast leaders in working together with President Bola Tinubu.

Umahi made these remarks during an interview that will be featured in a documentary for Tinubu’s second year in office.

He said many people in the Southeast are happy with the way President Tinubu has handled development in the region.

Umahi noted that there has been a fresh wave of construction and road projects in the Southeast since Tinubu became president.

He explained that governors in the Southeast, no matter which political party they belong to, are working closely with Tinubu.

Umahi also revealed that a summit is being organized where Southeast leaders can officially show support for President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election.

He praised Tinubu for showing fairness to the Southeast, something that people from the region have always hoped for.

Umahi directly called on Peter Obi to join the movement and attend the summit to endorse President Tinubu as part of a united front.

He confidently said the Southeast is pleased with what President Tinubu has done so far.

The Minister added that the Tinubu government has given ministerial positions to people from the Southeast and started many projects across the region.

Some of these key projects include roads connecting Port Harcourt to Enugu, Enugu to Abakaliki, Enugu to Onitsha, and Onitsha to Owerri.

In terms of security, Umahi said Tinubu’s administration has been tackling insecurity in the region using different security agencies.

The security crisis worsened after the arrest of Biafra activist Nnamdi Kanu, who is facing terrorism charges.

However, Umahi said the government has taken steps to reduce violence and has made progress in stopping the activities of armed groups in the Southeast.
