A scary moment happened at the Alake Sports Complex in Ijeja, Abeokuta, Ogun State on Tuesday. The venue, which is part of the 2024 National Sports Festival, was rocked by a gas explosion that caused confusion and fear.

The explosion started when a gas truck, which was supplying fuel to a generator at the complex, suddenly caught fire. This led to a chaotic scene, as athletes and spectators in the area rushed to find safety.

Thankfully, emergency teams arrived quickly and were able to stop the fire from spreading. They brought the situation under control within a short time.

At the time of writing, no injuries or deaths have been confirmed. Everyone is safe, and that’s a big relief.

Sports events such as handball, squash, and badminton, which were affected by the incident, have already resumed at the venue.
