U.S. ex-president, Biden diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer

Former U.S. President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with a serious and fast-growing type of prostate cancer. His personal office shared the news in a statement on Sunday, saying the cancer has already reached his bones.

Last week, Biden went for a medical check-up after noticing more problems with urination. His doctors then found a lump in his prostate, and further tests confirmed the presence of prostate cancer.

Doctors said Biden’s cancer is very aggressive, with a Gleason score of 9, which is one of the highest grades. This means the cancer is growing quickly. It was also confirmed that the cancer has spread to his bones.

Even though the cancer is serious, it is still sensitive to hormone treatment. This gives doctors a chance to manage the disease with proper care.

Biden and his family are now working with his medical team to decide the best treatment plan for him.

This health update comes almost ten months after Biden stepped down from the 2024 presidential race. At that time, there were many questions about his health and age.

He left the race after a debate with Donald Trump in June 2024, where he struggled to speak clearly and appeared very weak. This led many Democrats and news outlets to ask him to quit the race.

Biden officially ended his campaign on July 21, 2024. He supported Kamala Harris, the Vice President at the time, to become the Democratic candidate.

However, Harris lost the election to Donald Trump, who returned as President on January 20, 2025.

Biden, who is now 82 years old, completed his term and has mostly stayed out of the public eye. Although he doesn’t appear often, he still holds a respected place in the Democratic Party.
