The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has asked why 15 students left Anambra State to write their rescheduled exam in Okigwe, Imo State. This has caused some questions because Anambra has many exam centers.
Last week, JAMB said there was a technical problem that affected exam results for students in five South Eastern states and Lagos. Because of this, the exam had to be rescheduled for those students.
These 15 students traveled from Anambra to Imo State for their new exam date. After finishing the exam, they left the center and could not be reached. Even the teachers who came with them were not reachable. This made many Nigerians worried that the students might have been kidnapped.
On Sunday, May 18, the Imo State police cleared up the confusion. They said the students were not kidnapped. The bus they traveled in broke down in a place where there was poor phone signal, so that’s why no one could reach them.
JAMB later responded on social media. They found it strange that the students left Anambra for Imo just to write the exam. JAMB called this move “suspicious,” asking why they didn’t use the many centers available in their home state.
This incident shows the importance of clear communication during exams and why students should use exam centers close to them.
