Human Rights activist, Harrison Gwamnishu, calls for justice for married woman filmed being assaulted by her husband

Human rights activist, Harrison Gwamnishu, is speaking out for a married woman who has reportedly suffered domestic abuse from her husband for many years. He is calling for justice and wants the public to pay attention to her case.

Harrison shared that he received a heartbreaking video showing the woman being physically attacked by her husband. What makes it more painful is that the assault happened in front of their baby and another adult, who might be their housemaid or a relative.

He went on to say that this is not the first or second time the man has tried to hurt his wife badly. According to Harrison, the woman has visited the police station several times to report what was happening. Sadly, instead of helping her, the police officers allegedly told her it was a “family matter” and asked her to go back home and settle things.

Harrison is now urging the authorities to take the case seriously. He believes the woman deserves protection and justice, and that this kind of violence should not be ignored or treated as normal in any family.

‘’Each time the police will say it is family issue. The family will be released on bail and nothing will happen. The beating will continue.”

He said some people who knew about her situation, reached out to him for help.

‘’When you tell most of these women to leave the marriage, people say you are trying to encourage separation of true lovers. When it comes to this stage, flee! Run! There is no way you can stay. When it come sto this stage where the man wants to kill the wife or the wife wants to kill the husband, you need to leave”
