EPL: Arteta reveals five key players are injury doubts ahead of Newcastle clash

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has shared that Kai Havertz might return for Sunday’s Premier League home game against Newcastle United.

Havertz was seen training earlier this week after having surgery on his hamstring. He had been expected to miss the rest of the season.

However, he has made a fast recovery and could now play in Arsenal’s last two matches of the season.

Even though Havertz has been out for over three months, he still leads Arsenal in goals this season, with nine in the league and 15 in all competitions.

Arteta said they will decide soon if Havertz can play. He’s joined in parts of training the past two days. While he looks fit, the medical team must give final approval, and they’ll also consider how Havertz feels.

Arteta also said that Declan Rice, Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli, and Jurriën Timber will be checked on Saturday to see if they can be part of the matchday squad.

He explained they need to wait and see if these players can handle things in training that they haven’t done yet before making a final decision.
