Nollywood actress Tina Mbah has shared some heartfelt advice with her fellow actors who are confused about choosing between their acting careers and getting married.
She advised them to pay close attention to their partners. According to Tina, there are often early signs that someone may not support your acting job. It’s important to notice these signs before making any serious commitment.
Speaking from her own experience as a mother of two, Tina said that she never allowed marriage to get in the way of her career. She encouraged her colleagues to stay strong and not let anyone stop them from chasing their dreams.
In a recent interview on the show Lights, Camera – It’s My Turn, she explained how some people get married thinking they will grow in their careers, only for their partners to later ask them to stop working. She said if someone married you while you were acting, they should not expect you to quit afterward.
Tina pointed out that people should talk openly with their partners before marriage. If needed, she even suggested getting a written agreement that your career will not be affected. She questioned why only one person should make sacrifices—why should the woman leave her job while the man keeps his?
She added that while marriage is important, no one is forced to marry. If one relationship doesn’t work, another might. You can always find someone who truly supports you. Tina encouraged women to stay true to themselves and not be fooled by flashy things. “Be classy and strong,” she said, “like me.”
