The Nigerian Army continues to strengthen security in Taraba State, as troops from the 6 Brigade and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have arrested four men suspected to be terrorists. The arrest happened during a successful operation where weapons and other items were also recovered.
Captain Olubodunde Oni, the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 6 Brigade, shared this news in a statement on Thursday, May 8, 2025.
The operation was carried out on May 7 after the army received a distress call. The report warned about armed men seen moving around the Tau area in Ardo-Kola Local Government.
Acting quickly, the troops arrived at the location and arrested four suspects. Three of them were caught carrying guns, while the fourth suspect was taken in for more questioning.
According to the army, this action is part of their continuous efforts to stop terrorism and criminal activities in the state.
During the operation, the soldiers recovered:
- 2 pump-action rifles
- 1 locally made gun
- 3 cutlasses
- 42 cartridges
- 4 mobile phones
- 1 national identity card
Early investigations suggest the suspects were invited to the area by a man named Alhaji Ardo Sani. Authorities are still looking into his involvement.
The commander of the 6 Brigade and Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised his troops for their fast and professional response. He also assured the public that the army is fully committed to keeping people safe in Taraba and nearby areas.
He also encouraged residents to keep sharing timely and trustworthy information with security forces. This support helps the military respond faster and improve safety across the state.
