The Lagos State Government has announced a temporary road closure to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries happening on Saturday, May 10, 2025. ACME Road in Ikeja will be shut to all vehicles on that day.
This update was shared on the official X (Twitter) account of the state government. Officials said the road closure is part of a plan to manage both security and traffic during the political event.
The blocked areas include all entry points to ACME Road—specifically from Adeniyi Jones, Lateef Jakande Road, and ACME Crescent. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area and use other routes instead.
The advisory clearly states that the whole stretch of ACME Road will be closed off to vehicles while the APC primaries are going on.
To reduce traffic problems, here are the alternative routes you can use:
- From Adeniyi Jones, take Aromire Street and move through Allen Junction.
- From Allen Avenue, use Aromire Street, then connect to Ladipo Oluwole, and continue through Guinness.
- From Akilo Road, divert to Wemco Road, then head either to Lateef Jakande or Omole.
Motorists are advised to plan their travel early and stay away from the ACME Road area unless it’s really necessary. These suggested routes are meant to keep traffic moving smoothly and help people avoid getting stuck in jams.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will place officers along these routes to assist with directions and make sure traffic stays safe and organized.
The government says these steps are important to ensure the APC primaries are held in a peaceful and orderly way, while also reducing inconvenience for road users.
