The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of Martins Otse, a social media influencer popularly known as VeryDarkMan. The arrest was based on multiple petitions submitted to the agency.
Speaking with BBC News on Monday, May 5, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale explained that the allegations against Otse involved cyberstalking. Oyewale noted that the influencer was taken into custody to address the complaints brought against him.
The EFCC also revealed plans to charge the activist in court soon. According to Oyewale, Otse could be released once he fulfills the bail conditions, adding that the commission intends to handle the matter lawfully and promptly.
