Fubara returns to Port Harcourt after trip to Germany

Siminalayi Fubara, the suspended Governor of Rivers State, has returned to Port Harcourt after spending two weeks in Germany.

His flight touched down at the international terminal of Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, at about 7 pm on Friday.

Fubara was welcomed by a few of his assistants at the airport, and they quickly escorted him into a waiting vehicle, which sped off right away.

Even though he was in Germany, reports indicate that Fubara had a private meeting with President Bola Tinubu in London, UK.

President Tinubu had earlier suspended Fubara, his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu, and members of the State House of Assembly, while declaring a state of emergency in Rivers State. The decision followed attacks on oil pipelines by militant groups in the region.

These incidents came amid the ongoing tension between Fubara and the 27 state lawmakers, who are believed to be supporting the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike.
