EPL: I want the best – Guardiola speaks on u-turn on De Bruyne’s exit from Man City

Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has expressed that replacing Kevin De Bruyne is nearly impossible, though he stopped short of suggesting that the club could reverse his decision to leave.

De Bruyne, aged 33, has made it clear that this season will be his last with Manchester City. He is set to leave the club as a free agent in the summer, a situation that doesn’t sit well with him.

Many fans have hoped that De Bruyne’s recent performances, including scoring the winning goal against Wolves on Friday, might lead the club to reconsider their decision.

Guardiola praised De Bruyne’s exceptional ability, but it seems unlikely that he will be offered a new contract. Speaking to Sky Sports, Guardiola said, “I want what’s best for Kevin, and it’s impossible to have spent so many years together without him.”

“He has been a remarkable player, but the situation is what it is. It’s almost impossible to find a replacement for him,” Guardiola added. “It’s not just his performances, but what he represents to the hearts of our supporters after all these years. Our successes are thanks to the players.”
