Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has advised the suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, to clearly communicate his demands to President Bola Tinubu.
This advice was shared in a statement released by Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the minister, on Saturday.
Wike stressed that genuine efforts for peace require consistent action, not just words. He noted that visiting people to request peace is insufficient if the actions taken contradict those intentions.
The minister pointed out that while Governor Fubara and his supporters claim to want peace, they simultaneously engage in activities that undermine their peace appeals.
“How can you say you want peace but still sponsor people to insult the President and his wife? Such actions don’t foster peace, and they know it because their pleas for peace lack sincerity,” Wike remarked.
Wike also condemned a recent incident involving some Rivers State women, describing it as a “show of shame.” He apologized to Nigeria’s First Lady, noting that the actions of those women do not reflect the values of Rivers State.
