Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs rejects plea deal ahead of s£x trafficking trial next week

Sean “Diddy” Combs has decided not to take a plea deal from federal prosecutors in his upcoming sex trafficking case. At a court hearing on May 1, the 55-year-old music mogul told the judge that he had rejected the government’s offer.

U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian asked him directly, “Have you rejected the government’s offer?” Diddy replied, “Yes, your honor.”

Now, his trial is set to begin on Monday, May 5, starting with jury selection. Opening statements are expected on May 12.

Prosecutors offered a deal that would have lowered his possible prison time. But Diddy and his legal team chose to take the case to trial instead. He has pleaded not guilty to all the charges, which include racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transporting people for prostitution.

One of his lawyers, Teny Geragos, also raised concerns about statements made by Lisa Bloom, a lawyer for two of Diddy’s accusers, who spoke about the case in a documentary.

Diddy was arrested last year after a large investigation. He’s accused of leading a criminal group that allowed him to abuse women sexually, physically, and emotionally for years. He strongly denies all these claims.

Prosecutors said they may call up to 20 witnesses, in addition to three main accusers, to talk about Diddy’s actions. If found guilty, he could face a life sentence in prison for some of the charges.
